Giving Back

Today is an important day in GuruNanda LLC's young history!

Today, we have formally made the decision to give back to those in need. We have committed to sponsor a weekly lunch to a very special orphanage. We will be feeding an entire orphanage every Tuesday.

This orphanage houses 30 boys and 10 girls between 4 and 17 years of age. After talking with a few of the boys, the story of an 8-year-old touched my heart.

At the age of 5, this boy’s mother passed away. After his mom died, his dad remarried, dropped him off at the orphanage and never returned. And now, at 8 years old, this young blessing has written over 500-letters to his parents. I was so moved by the thought of this, I couldn’t even read what was written. I hope, in some small way, what we are doing here will help to make this little boy’s life a little better.

I plan to increase our contribution/footprint at this organization and a few others. My long-term plan is to give a percentage of our sales to the organizations that we choose to help. Last year I started buying lavender oil from a farmer in Kashmir who employed women who were shunned from their homes because they had been raped and provided them with permanent employment. This is an indirect way of us helping a noble cause that I feel very strongly about, but today we have decided to help directly as our part of 'giving back'. We will keep you updated.
